Life of an animator

Ok.... another boring post abt computer animation... but i just felt tt i have to post this up, after my debut experience on working with animation.

Just finished with all the work in softimage.... the animation and such. And it was left with the last phase of rendering and getting the avi files. After which if time permits, i'd combine the files using Adobe premiere with some simple cross fading.

But as it turns out.. getting the avi files ain't that simple.... apparently softimage doesn't give you the final avi file from ur existing images (jpeg files), except for the very first round of rendering. And it doesn't help tt you made a stoopid mistake of choosing a lousy compression format... which actually gave me a 2Gig size file which i cannot even play. And it's not tt my laptop was lousy. Cos the comps at 305 laboratory had the same prob...... sigh.. so after waiting 8 hrs of rendering, i still do not get the avi files which im supposed to have. which means no final product and means this may not be enuff for me to pass the module. Sy asked y must i get the final thing.... and my answer to him is.... cos ultimately the audience wana see a movie.... not ur modelling or skeletons in softimage!! haha..... seriously im not being a perfectionist... i really jus wana get it done and over with.... but these rendering, transfering of files... is really making me crazy.

Haii... and today is a saturday, and I've just stepped foot into 305. Guess wat? There's actually quite a few pple working on their animation and some virtual reality stuff. Sad eh? Pawel and 'miao miao' are here as well and they look quite sian as well.... I mean who would wanna be stuck in a lab on a saturday rite.... c'mon....

Imagine the amount of work pple put into in producing the animation movies. I really respect them now.... I'm only trying to make a one minute animation and jus look at the amount of time i'm spending on it.... Sad life lei animators..... and you know wat's worse..... I might be doing this for my fyp.... lol..... *faint*
